BIRTHDAY IN VEGAS

I was 50 years old on August 1, 2002. I made my family take me to Las Vegas where I spent my special day lounging in a cabana by the pool at the Golden Nugget, drinking strawberry coladas.

Too bad Nelsha couldn't go. Job problems.

The fabulous pool at the beautiful Golden Nugget, our new favorite hotel downtown. Nelsha would have loved it.

The run-of-the-house rooms, available in package deals from most travel services including Expedia and Travelocity. Perfect for Nelsha.

Now it's a party! Gunji arrives with Brian from LA. No Nelsha. Oh, well.

The seafood buffet at the RIO. Talked to Nelsha on the phone. She wished me happy birthday from afar. So sad she was absent.

SHE WAS ON THE ROOF THE WHOLE TIME! Here we are at the Voodoo Lounge on the 50th floor roof of the Rio. Photo taken by Brian's girlfirend Marla.

The rest of us at the Voodoo Lounge: John, me, Marla, Brian and Gunji. Photo by Evil Knelsha.

I got drunk AND THAT'S THE TRUTH!

Gunji and Nelsha with Penn Gillette after Penn & Teller's show at the Rio. The hand with the different colored nail polish is Penn's.

And so, we bid farewell to Las Vegas until we can think up another flimsy excuse to go there.
